Action, Advocacy and Art

Action, Advocacy and Art

Showcasing two-dimensional artworks by local artists, the Action, Advocacy and Art initiative fosters relationships between the community and ASU students, faculty and staff. The driving force behind the initiative stems from two programs: The Community Art program and the Emeritus Art Collection.

The Community Art program:  The Community Art program creates opportunities for learning and interaction among the community and ASU students, faculty and staff. Each semester, the walls on the 1st through 3rd floors of ASU's University Center (UCENT) building are transformed with works of art that explore a contemporary issue affecting the university and its surrounding communities. By hosting two exhibitions per year, the program goal is to make art accessible to students and the public in a way that creates connections, enriches relationships and encourages discourse.

See information listed below for current Call to Artists opportunities.

The Emeritus Art Collection: Housed on the 4th through 8th floors of UCENT, the Emeritus Art Collection consists of over 280 works of art by retired ASU faculty members, both professional and avocational artists. The works of art include acrylics, pastels, etchings, ink washes, oils, woodcuts, watercolors, fiber art and mixed media. The art transforms these buildings into a center of culture, creativity and innovation.

Open Call to Artists | The Art of Wellness

Prioritizing wellness is an essential endeavor for both individuals and our collective community. This semester, we extend an invitation for you to join a collaborative initiative aimed at establishing a space where art acts as a catalyst for positive change, nurturing wellbeing and fostering a culture of community care. Works should focus on wellness and factors that are important for physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

This exhibit will be on display at the University Center on the Downtown Phoenix campus from Feb. 2 - May 31, 2024.

The submission period for the Spring 2024 Show is closed.
