Our research assumes responsibility for the community and its resources (including, yet not limited to social, cultural, environmental, and economic).

Engaging our community is one of the core functions of ASU and the Schools within HAITC, Community Resources and Development and Public Affairs. ASU is measured not by who we exclude, but by who we include: we pursue research that considers the public good, and we assume major responsibility for the economic, social and cultural vitality of our community.

Transdisciplinary solutions for community and natural resources management and development.

Each School’s faculty and students conduct a broad range of research that emphasizes transdisciplinary, solutions-oriented approaches to sustainable community development, visitor management, and management and administration of public services. Our research brings different disciplines together by advocating a systems approach to the study of community, with the aim of making communities better places to live, work, play and visit.
