Learning Together, Shaping the Future

Welcome to HNU–ASU International College (HAIC)!

At HAIC, our future takes shape through the relationships we build, the questions we explore, and the opportunities we create together. Our partnership between Hainan University and Arizona State University brings people, cultures, and ideas into conversation, preparing students to contribute thoughtfully and confidently to a changing world.

As we begin the 2026–2027 academic year and look toward our tenth anniversary in 2027, we are building on a shared commitment to student success, innovative teaching, and meaningful community engagement. Together with our HNU colleagues, we are connecting these priorities more closely so that learning in the classroom opens doors to discovery, professional opportunity, and service beyond campus.

Our students are at the heart of this work. This year, we are strengthening mentorship, expanding opportunities for first-year students to connect, and improving awareness of resources that support well-being. We want every student to feel known, supported, and encouraged to pursue ambitious goals. Our team is also creating opportunities to explore the responsible use of artificial intelligence while nurturing the curiosity, critical thinking, and human relationships that give education its lasting value.

Our faculty and staff make these aspirations possible. Their creativity and care are advancing teaching, supporting collaborative learning experiences, and helping students connect knowledge with practice. Building on our scholarly achievements, we are working to expand opportunities for faculty and students to learn from one another, share their discoveries, and prepare for further study. Stronger connections with alumni and industry partners will also bring valuable perspectives, mentorship, and career learning into the HAIC experience.

This year, we are especially pleased to host another national park symposium and a Leave No Trace Certificate course. These opportunities reflect our commitment to connecting education with the stewardship of the places and communities we value. They offer meaningful settings for shared learning about conservation, responsible recreation, and the role each of us can play in caring for our natural and cultural heritage.

I am deeply grateful to our HNU partners, faculty, and staff for the dedication and generosity they bring to our college. To our students: your ideas, energy, and aspirations inspire us to keep improving. To our alumni and community partners: your continued involvement enriches what we can accomplish together.
