Undergraduate research
Work with faculty on real-world solutions while gaining research, presentation and publication experience. The Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions began its Undergraduate Research Program in fall 2006. Faculty members play a crucial role in helping undergraduate students engage in research. Any faculty member who wants or needs assistance with research is encouraged to work directly with an undergraduate student of their choosing. Learn more.
Internships
Participate as an intern and not only gain practical experience in your field but make a valuable contribution to local organizations.
Study abroad
Gain a global perspective. Student opportunities have included studying counter-terrorism in Israel, learning about comparative criminal justice between the UK and USA, and working on sustainability, park management and tourism in Australia and Fiji.
Student organizations
For nearly every passion, there is a student organization giving you great networking opportunities, experiential projects, and of course a chance to have fun in the field that you love.
Leadership
Be a part of student government or a peer mentor. Join Devil’s Advocates to help introduce new students to campus. There are all kinds of teams and organizations that can help you build leadership skills. Find the opportunity that is right for you.
