Ready to Make an Impact?

Ready to make an impact?

The Piper Servant Leader Network is your opportunity to explore how your skills, interests and values can connect to meaningful work in the nonprofit sector.

Whether you're curious about community issues, looking for hands-on experience or just wondering how your major can make a difference, this pathway is for you. You’ll begin with a service-learning course that includes 40 hours of community-based volunteer experience. From there, you can choose how to keep going — by taking additional nonprofit courses, pursuing an internship or working toward a nationally recognized credential. Along the way, you’ll earn digital badges, build valuable skills and deepen your connection to the community.

How it Works

PSLN three-phase journey: Explore. Experience. Take Action.

1. Explore: Discover your community

Begin with NLM 160: Voluntary Action and Community Leadership, a service-learning course that combines classroom learning with 40 hours of real-world nonprofit experience, including job shadowing. You'll earn a $500 scholarship and a digital badge in Nonprofit Systems Thinking

2. Experience: Build your skills

Deepen your understanding of the nonprofit sector through a semester-long internship and NLM 220: Introduction to Nonprofit Organizations. You’ll apply your talents to real organizational needs, earn a second $500 scholarship and receive another digital badge.

3. Action: Build your future

Take the next step by becoming eligible for the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. You'll build on your coursework and internship experience with nationally recognized training through ASU’s Lodestar Center.
