The ASU Outstanding Student Award recognizes graduating students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and meaningful contributions to the HAIC community. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence, leadership, research, professional accomplishments, service, and overall impact during their time at HAIC.

Meitong Yin

Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Meitong Yin

Meitong has demonstrated exceptional intellectual growth, leadership, and service to HAIC. In the classroom, she has shown a strong ability to analyze complex problems with no fixed solution and to contribute thoughtfully to applied public administration work. As a teaching student assistant across multiple semesters, she supported students, mentored other TSAs, and helped strengthen course organization and delivery. She also contributed to capstone student support and a campus safety project shared with HAIC leadership. Meitong stands out for her problem-solving ability, maturity, reliability, and dedication to helping others learn.

Qingyan Miao

Qingyan has distinguished herself through academic achievement, research, leadership, and applied impact. Ranking first in PSPP with a perfect 4.0 CGPA, she has earned consecutive university scholarships and led or co-led three national-level entrepreneurship projects, each earning National Second Prize. Her research experience includes AI-assisted qualitative methods, a Neo4j knowledge graph for AI policy analysis, and an international conference paper on China’s gold investment markets. She also brings technical fluency in Python, Stata, and Neo4j to her work, while contributing to post-typhoon recovery, special education volunteering, elderly care, and community education.

Xuran has shown exceptional growth, resilience, and leadership through her graduate work in community development and tourism. Her master’s research on a Living Lab for competency development and urban regeneration in Haikou’s Qilou Old Street connected classroom learning with community engagement and applied tourism education. She supported student fieldwork, coordinated logistics, and helped facilitate communication among students, merchants, residents, and government representatives. Across her coursework, Xuran turned challenges into strength, becoming a top-performing student through discipline, persistence, and openness to feedback. Her work reflects a rare ability to bridge academic research with meaningful community impact.

Jiaqi has distinguished herself as one of HAIC’s strongest Tourism Development and Management students, combining intellectual ability, discipline, maturity, and curiosity. She is an active, thoughtful class participant and a natural leader among her peers. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom through national-level innovation and entrepreneurship work, student service, and campus engagement. Jiaqi has also demonstrated strong research and professional promise through work in AI-driven tourism marketing, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and industry experience with JD.com. She stands out for her critical thinking, initiative, professionalism, and consistent impact in both individual and team settings.

Qingsha combines outstanding academic achievement with campus leadership, research, and global engagement. With a perfect 4.0 GPA and first-place ranking in her cohort, she has earned multiple First-Class Scholarships and Merit Student honors. As Student Union President, she coordinated more than 25 campus events and was twice recognized as an Outstanding Student Leader. Her research experience includes co-authoring an SSCI Q1 publication on urban resilience, contributing to international datasets, and completing a policy-focused internship with an international organization in Belgium. She is recognized for her maturity, initiative, and ability to connect academic excellence with meaningful service.
