Solutions-Based Learning

The Community Solutions Corps student experience is driven by our communities’ most urgent challenges. Students address these challenges through Solutions-Based Learning (SBL). SBL has two unique branches that allows Corps members to link their course content to community solutions in a meaningful and personal way.

Community Impact E-Portfolio

The Community Impact E-Portfolio provides the opportunity for students to document their experiences in the College and community. Using Digication, a portfolio software that can be accessed through MyASU, students will be required to complete four modules that are designed to encourage reflection, and develop strategies for further action or research.

In the first module, students will develop a Community Impact Statement; a social problem or issue students want to address that will provide focus on research, coursework and service experiences. Each consecutive module is linked to core curriculum and will prompt the student to think critically about their Community Impact Statement in relation to their coursework. Upon graduation, students will have a completed portfolio that can be used to showcase their experiences as public servants in the job and graduate school application process.

Solutions-Based Learning Credit Requirement
