Professional Development Funding


Current ASU students may apply for funding support related to pursue professional development opportunities related to advocacy or civic or political engagement.Examples of how this funding could be used include (but are not limited to) the following:

 

  • Conference and workshop registration fees
  • Membership fees for professional associations or advocacy organizations
  • Travel costs to participate in conferences and meetings

 

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Pastor Center professional development funds are available to any currently enrolled ASU student, regardless of major/academic focus, so long as they meet the following requirements:

 

  • In good academic standing
  • No pending disciplinary issues
  • Enrolled at ASU at the time of application and throughout the duration of the professional development event or activity for which the funding support is requested.

 

Funding is limited, so approved applications may not receive all of the funding for which they apply. Applications are reviewed and approved on an individual basis, considering available funds and alignment with the following funding criteria:

 

FUNDING CRITERIA:

 

  • The professional development opportunity will meaningfully prepare the student to engage in advocacy, and/or civic or political engagement.
  • The student has identified specific ways to utilize this opportunity for the benefit of the greater ASU community (examples include giving a talk, demonstration, or workshop, etc.; sharing information online or via social media, etc.)

Destinee Sior (2nd year Master’s Public Policy/Social Work) attended the Society for Social Work Research Conference in January 2023. “I learned about resources available for marginalized groups, how policy affects communities, and the gaps that still need to be filled with both research and policy change.
