As a Public Service student, participating in an internship is the best way for you to gain practical experience within your chosen field. Each school has its own requirements and resources for its students to complete an internship, so be sure to check the website for the all the information you need.

School of Community Resources and Development
All students in the School of Community Resources and Development are required to complete a Senior Internship. The Senior Internship will allow you to put theory to practice working in a professional agency under the supervision of an Agency Internship Supervisor and an Academic Internship Supervisor.
School of Criminology and Criminal Justice
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice partners with community businesses and criminal justice organizations to provide undergraduate and graduate internships. You can earn college credit, gain professional work experience and network with professionals in your chosen field. Internships are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
By applying knowledge gained in the classroom to real world situations, you will gain a better understanding of the program content and prepare to enter your chosen career with valuable professional training and experience. Internships can be found in a broad range of fields of study and types of organizations, public and private.
Field Education is offered concurrently with academic study. You will be assigned to a social service agency and complete an internship placement under the guidance and supervision of an experienced, professional social worker called a Field Instructor. This vital interaction is designed to reinforce your academic study with real-life experience.
Other opportunities
Arizona State University students have an opportunity to compete for internships within Maricopa County departments through a program approved by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The Maricopa County Leadership and Education Advancing Public Service (MCLEAPS) internship program offers top students hands-on experience and greatly enhances their education with an introduction to the opportunities and rewards of public service careers, including those in county government.
