411 Gallery festivities celebrate community
The ASU Downtown Phoenix campus will open its doors to the community for the “Faith, Spirituality and Social Capital” 411 Gallery Exhibition from 6-8 p.m., April 1. The event featuring live music, interactive art and demonstrations will take place at the University Center at 411 N. Central Avenue in Phoenix. The exhibition will showcase local nonprofits that focus on pressing social issues connected to Faith, Spirituality and Social Capital. The exhibition shares stories, increases nonprofit mission visibility, and provides opportunities to connect and take action.
The “For Our Eyes” art exhibition shares timely stories through the artwork of community and university organizations, artists and members. More than 20 nonprofit groups are taking part, including Advocates for Latin@ Arts and Culture, Catholic Charities, Duet Partners in Health & Aging, The Cultural Cup Food Bank, Arizona Interfaith Movement, The Rise Project, Young Life, MentorKids USA, Neighborhood Ministries and many more. “For Our Eyes” is grounded in ASU’s College of Public Programs’ commitment to the social and economic advancement of the diverse communities in the metropolitan region. The College is a center of intellectual and cultural engagement, within the vibrant urban core of the City of Phoenix, with knowledge at its foundation. From the design of the campus throughout the heart of downtown, to the proximity of hundreds of community organizations, “For Our Eyes” Exhibitions offers an unparalleled opportunity to make a difference by directly connecting with the people it serves.
The “411 Gallery” is free and open during ASU building hours. The event is part of Artlink’s First Friday. A shuttle stop will be located at AE England Building/Civic Space Park. The 411 Gallery Exhibition is presented in partnership with the Civic Space Park Collaboration’s First Friday Event, where live music and interactive art will take place. The 411 Gallery promotes the use of Artlink shuttle stops. There is a stop located at the Artlink A.E. England Gallery in the Civic Space Park.
